  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup egg whites
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 cup lilac flowers, cleaned and destemmed

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted butter.
  3. Press the mixture into a tart pan and bake for 10 minutes.
  4. In a saucepan, combine lemon juice, sugar, and eggs, and cook over medium heat until thickened.
  5. Pour the lemon mixture into the crust and bake for another 15 minutes.
  6. Whip egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form, gradually adding sugar and continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.
  7. Fold in lilac flowers gently.
  8. Spread meringue over the lemon filling and bake until meringue is golden.
