Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
  • 6 tablespoons ice water
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup cooked sausage, crumbled
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Add diced butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in water, a tablespoon at a time, until mixture forms a ball.
  5. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into rectangles.
  7. Place cheese and sausage on half of the rectangles and top with the others.
  8. Seal edges with a fork and brush with beaten egg.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
